MANAGMENT CONSULTING
Crisis Management:
When a crisis occurs, managers need to think clearly and act quickly. Jim will help you put together a crisis team and a crisis plan that addresses, 1) immediate client or staff safety issues, 2) internal and external communications, 3) potential licensing concerns, 4) media interest and 5) legal exposure.
Turnaround situations:
Do you have an organizational mess on your hands? Sometimes it’s an entire agency, but often it’s a program or site within an organization that simply can’t keep its head above water. Jim has worked in multiple turnaround situations and will help management assess causes and recommend actions to stop the downward spiral and rebuild your program to what you want it to be.
New Program Start-Up:
Perhaps you’re thinking about starting a new program and need someone to help, 1) determine its operational and financial viability, 2) find a location, 3) assist with hiring staff, 4) get appropriately licensed and 5) design a marketing/communications plan. Jim has started a variety of residential, school and outpatient programs and can help you start yours.
Strategic Restructuring:
These are difficult times for many non profits. You may be considering a merger, consolidation, spin off or, perhaps even, a dissolution. If you are considering any of these options, an experienced, independent and object resource might be just the help you need to get it right.
Jim has assisted agencies with large, multi-million dollar acquisitions and smaller. He has learned a lot about what makes restructuring work and why many fail to live up to expectations. In addition to assisting your agency in evaluating a potential partner, he will help lead you safely through a thoughtful and comprehensive process that includes the important few months post restructuring when the honeymoon is over.
Quality Assurance Systems:
Jim will help you design systems for gathering, tracking and evaluating clinical, demographic and outcome data on your client population.
Operations Support;
If you are in the medical, mental health or social service field and have a short term need for an experienced, hands on non profit executive, Jim may be the right choice for your organization. Temporary assignments up to six months are possible. Give a call to discuss.
EXECUTIVE COACHING
It looks a lot easier than it really is. Managing in today’s complex, competitive environment is not for sissies. There are times when all of us as managers have wished for someone off of whom we could bounce ideas or concerns, someone who was experienced, objective, trustworthy and invested in our success. Someone who could help you meet your professional objectives while you worked to meet everyone else’s.
Jim has supervised and coached dozens of mid career and senior managers in many healthcare and social service related organizations during his career. Many of them are in senior leadership positions throughout the metro area today.
BOARD DEVELOPMENT
Most Board members are not experienced in running agencies. They take time out of their busy lives to do something important and good for their community through Board service. They often don’t fully understand their responsibility to the agency or how to manage in a healthy way the relationship between themselves as Board members and the CEO. Jim has thirteen years of working successfully with Board members and can help develop your Board through presentations, group discussion or one to one consultation.
The single most important responsibility of a Board is to identify, select and recruit the most qualified candidate to lead its agency. Most Boards only have one shot at getting it right. It’s extremely difficult to fix a hiring mistake at this level without serious disruption and even harm to the agency. Jim has hired many senior managers and executives. He can lead you through the recruitment process from start to finish, giving Board members added confidence in their ultimate leadership choice.
